I have long experience within biological science related to medicine. I have worked for nearly 30 years as a researcher and teacher at Copenhagen University in Denmark. Before that period, I did research at Harvard Medical School and at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. I have written more than 30 scientific papers in English for international journals. Therefore, I am well qualified for translating scientific text. Since my native language is Swedish, English-Swedish translations and Danish-Swedish translations are my primary directions. Within certain fields, my long preoccupation with science writing in English enables me to translate also into English.
I work as a scientific and medical translator and as a technical translator.
In the translation of manuals and work procedures, it is important that terms are used consistently. I do non-automated translation using so-called CAT tools (Wordfast and Trados). These collect a customer's specific terminology as a separate database to ensure accuracy and consistency of translated terms and faster translation work.
I translate texts from different computer applications.
I can handle the source code and help improve the portability between different browsers and between the Windows and Macintosh platforms, if necessary.
I normally work as an English-Swedish translator. Thanks to a very long experience with writing scientific papers in English, I am very familiar with English technical and scientific usage. (See translator's CV.) Thus with scientific and technical text within my field of expertise, I can also do Swedish-English translation.
I have done translations of university teaching materials from Danish to English and of laboratory protocols to use as documentation in the context of patent litigation as well as instruction manuals from Swedish to English. In the field of manuals, I have done translations of long manuals within medical technology and teaching texts on medical subjects; I have also done a great number of translations of manuals for users of computer programs within banking. Furthermore, I have done translations of scientific papers from Danish to English.
